ABOUT FEATURED ARTIFACTS
Lee Teter features this research for artists and others who need visual information. A different artifact will be published each week when possible. These images were photographed by Lee Teter and are provided courtesy of Lee Teter unless otherwise noted.
A shooting pouch contained the tools and supplies needed for shooting flintlock or percussion firearms.
This is an original artifact that is representative of shooting pouches used during the era of Rocky Mountain rendezvous. Notice the fine details and careful stitching along with functional and useful proportions. Stereotypes in most “western” art and film are primitive fantasies with no counterpart in reality.
